I enjoy and take great pride in being part of developing the next generation of leaders for organizations, supporting engaged and high-performing work cultures, and providing performance consulting that drives organizational achievement.
As an independent human resources consultant and performance coach for over fifteen years, I've partnered with executives and human resources teams in healthcare environments to co-create both positive patient and employee experiences--high performing cultures that deliver results through patient and employee engagement.
As a Senior Human Resources Business Partner at Hennepin County Medical Center, I provided both strategic and tactical human resources support to the leadership teams of dedicated clinical and business groups. That support included strategic planning, retreat facilitation, and the training and coaching of emerging and executive level leaders. Through my work as Director of Human Resources at RCRI, Inc. (Regulatory & Clinical Research Institute), I led organizational interventions designed to attract and retain highly skilled and clinical and regulatory consultants in a competitive market. As one of the nine-member Hudson Hospital operations team, I was responsible for providing expertise in all areas of human resources management and development in a 200-employee health care facility.
Throughout my career as a human resources professional and as a volunteer and member of the speaker’s bureau with Care Partners and the Ronald McDonald House, I've always been passionate about healthcare. Having grown up in a family with a rare genetic mutation that predisposes the affected to a lifetime of cancer risk, I intimately understand how important the caregiver-patient bond and family support is to the patient. It was this focus--this passion--that inspired me to write Summer’s Complaint, the multi-generational story of my family’s battle with an inherited cancer syndrome and the courage, heartache, and hope inherent in that fight.
I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) and a Master’s degree in Human Development from St. Mary’s University (Minneapolis). I received coaching certification through ASTD in 2013 and is a Certified Master Trainer in AHRQ’s TeamSTEPPS for healthcare teams (2014). I also hold SPHR and SHRM-SCP professional certifications.
My husband, Bill, and I raised three children--Alexander, Kelsey, and Adele--in the Twin Cities while enjoying the good life Minnesota has to offer: work that is engaging, travel opportunities providing plenty of truly lived moments, and University of Minnesota football--go Golden Gophers!
